At the beginning of the day all I had was a design in my mind. At the end of the day I contacted two people. Both of them in hopes of helping me with the design of the paddle. Even though today I didn't figure anything out, I really think when they get back to me it will be a huge help. I emailed Mr. Trabilsy and Mr. Grant, I asked them if there was anyway they could help me. When they do I will build the actual prototype.
In round two of genius hour I am creating a paddle. This paddle isn't a regular paddle, this paddle will have an extension. The extension will help you bend your elbows under water to increase the amount of water in your catch. I'm thinking it will be a paddle that you can find at any swim store and a stick like object that will go from your paddle to your elbow so your elbow will be at a 90 degree angle. What I like about this project is that it will tremendously help me improve my swim times and hopefully others too.
What are the different types of freestyle, how are they beneficial, and how much time will it take to apply it?
I started swim at the age of 8. I was on my local summer pool's team, the Meadows. Every kid under the age of 11 had an older buddy who guided them throughout the entire summer, showed them the ropes. My older buddy's name was Maddie. She was so fast in my eyes, she was my role model, I wanted to be as fast as her someday. I was amazed. I struggled with the 1 hour practices that are now a piece of cake. I later found out that Maddie was on a team where you swim all year, her team was called B.R.Ryall. I decided I loved to swim so I joined it over the fall. Now, 4 years later I'm on that very team and I'm happy as can be. I've gotten much better since then and I've made many friends. Practices are unimaginably hard but I still go and I love it as much as I did when I was 8 maybe even more. I hope I can continue to swim for as long as I can and also, continue to love it as much as I do now. |
