Today I finished most of the cakes page and the cake page. I have 3 recipes on the cake page including cupcakes and ice cream cakes. There is one recipe that has cinnamon rolls inside of it. Next week I am going to finish the cake page. I will start the cookies or bars page next week with amazing recipes. There is going to be fresh recipes and old fashioned recipes. Tuesday the 6th grade will be going to Jefferson to see the eighth grade genius hour projects. Goodrich is the only school that is going because we were the test monkeys of genius hour.We are so excited to see all of the eighth grade projects. At the end of the school year we have a few extra days so we are having a genius day. Everyone around the school will be able to ask us questions and do activities. We will pitch them our speech and see what they think, but I know this is going to amazing!
I started my website and I am already writing recipes. I am having a blast. I will continue further information later.
My new website is at http://lovelyguitarinformation.weebly.com/ so come and check it out.
Child Labor
Child labor is a big problem around the world. Child labor is work that harms children or keeps them from attending school. Around the world and in the U. S., growing gaps between rich and poor in recent decades have forced millions of young children out of school and into work. If you walk up to someone who thinks child labor is a good thing they might say they are only children or I bought/found them, so they are mine. However if you walked up to someone who is against child labor they might say that children are meant to have rights and they should be loved by others or that you can’t buy a little kid that doesn’t know anything about the situation that they are in and with no say in the situation. Child labor is the gainful employment of children below an age determined by law or custom. There are many problems with child labor and these are the top three What is the problem?,Why does this happen?,and what is wrong with child labor? First of all, one problem with child labor is what is the problem? children are being treated like slaves. Some of the kids have to sleep on old wooden planks in small windowless buildings with no clean water sanitary bathrooms. I am realizing that children have been being abused and people are ignoring children rights. In addition farm owners who use child labor usually feed them corn paste, bananas, or even cheaper food. Could it be that people abuse a child’s long life span and use it for their own profit. Children have to cut the cocoa bean down with machetes. However when children use machetes it violates international labor laws and a UN convention on eliminating the worst forms of child labor. Furthermore, hundreds of children work on the cocoa farms and 40% of the children are girls. Children who work on cocoa farms must be 12 years or older, but reporters have found children been taken away to work at the age of 5. Perhaps they were walking home but farmers kidnapped the children so they can get work done without paying money. Second of all, another problem with child labor is why does it happen? Cocoa farmers earn less than $2 a day which is an income below the poverty line. So they end up resorting to child labor to keep their prices competitive. Some people get in debt and they sell their kids into child labor to get out of debt. For example, Iqbal Masih was just 4 years old when its parents sold into slavery to pay off a $12 debt. As a result he ended up to weaving carpet for the next six years of his life. When he was 10 years old he escaped child labor and he started traveling around Pakistan speaking up about child labor. Iqbal went to the US and asked Broad Meadows Middle School in Quincy, Massachusetts for their help. Many people wanted child labor to continue so they can make plans to kill Iqbal. Iqbal Masih was murdered on Easter Sunday because he was against child labor. Ghana and Ivory Coast make the children spray the cocoa pods with large amounts of industrial chemicals because of bug infestations. Children are being “sold” to traffickers or farm owners and relatives regardless of the conditions. Third of all, the last problem with child labor is what is wrong about child labors? Each child has to strike a cocoa pod with a machete and pry it open with the tip of the blade to expose the cocoa beans. This might be important because every strike of a machete has the potential to slice a child's flesh. The majority of children have scars on their hands, arms, legs, and shoulders from the machetes. As said before for kids spray the pods of industrial chemicals, but they have no protection from the chemicals. In result of no protection the kids and vomiting and getting seriously hurt for instance Craig Kilberger went to Asia to help children who have a problem with child labor. He started to talk to the children about school, but many kids did not know what school is. After that he saw a little girl crying with your hands all dirty and has many holes on it. She is 8 years old and she cleans dirty needles that can have viruses and puts them in a bucket. In conclusion, children are being treated like slaves with no help or protection and kids are getting seriously injured. There are many problems with child labor including what is the problem?, why does this happen?, and what is wrong with child labor? The one problem remaining why hasn’t stopped? I have to put 1 picture on my website to finish it. I am going to publish it next week. I believe I am starting a new topic with my friend, Nevaeh on healthy food. I am really excited for next week to start making healthy food. I have a few websites in mind so I am so excited.
I started adding thing on to my website and I have added pictures, a blog, and different pages. I made a website last week and I am continuing my website to make it better so people can post ideas on the blog. Next week I will finish the pictures and then I will start adding information about guitars.
I like what I am doing in genius hour because I can think about guitars and what they are all about. I am going to build a guitar and play it, but first I am making a website with the history of guitars, guitar making, and guitar parts. I am so excited to build a guitar, but I don't know what I am going to build it out of but I know it is going to be amazing.
Genius Hour is actually was amazing experience because I learned so much information it’s crazy. I wish I had more time so I could learn even more about roots and rational exponents. I learned how to solve the cubed root of 125 with 3 as the exponent. Then Miss Tesmer showed me g(math) in Add-ons on Google Docs. The video was stressful, but after awhile it got easier. Overall it was really fun and I want to do it again.
