Today I went outside and I took pictures of the trees and the grass and I didn't get much done today like I planned. I will get home today and I am going to upload these photos. I will edit them first and delete the ones that are blurry or the ones I don't like. My successes today were getting loads of more pictures for my Genius Hour project. My failures were not doing all of the things that I had planned on doing today. So like I said, I am going to be at home doing as many things as I can before I leave for half the night.
Today I was aiming towards going outside to take more pictures but I didn't because I took to much time to editing pictures. My failures were that I had not been able to go outside and that I talked a lot with my peers so I didn't get much done. My success was that I was able to edit enough pictures.
For my Genius Hour project for round 3 I studied Japanese and I studied a different theme of words like the days of the week or different fruits (as I showed in my last post). Why I chose this was because I'm always fascinated with the language and the culture.
My steps for this project were: Step 1. I studied Japanese and learned how identify it by certain sounds and how to spell it Step 2. I took different topics each week and learned how to say them and spell them Step 3. I took a Japanese folk tale and translated it into English so I could read it and then I learned how to read it in Japanese Step 4. I shared what I did with the people who I sat with in class today I actually didn't seek any help from anyone except for my dad who loves Japan as much as me. He helped me with watching their cultures shows (anime). I shared with the world by blogging about it today and as I posted early I had a short folk tale from ancient Japan. My end product was a story in Japanese. The successes were first studying Japanese. Every week I would have a different topic like sports or fruit or days of the week. Some of the problems I faced were when I first tried to do my end product by video taping myself but I didn't have a quiet environment so I couldn't video tape myself. What I learned from this was that I should have a quiet environment every time I video tape. What I would do differently would be doing more subjects and topics than 5 things I should do about 10. What I am thinking about doing for my last round of Genius Hour is Photography and I am going to be taking pictures of the transitions between winter to spring. This week of Genius Hour I have been looking up the translations for different fruits in Japanese. I have had help thinking up of fruits cause I guess obviously I don't eat enough fruits. I think that I did OK today because first of all I didn't even know that there was such thing as a Dragon Fruit and also I didn't know that banana was still pronounced banana in Japanese. I had help from Mrs. Tesmer and I was introduced to a new website. This is what I have work on this week for genius hour.
For my fourth week of Genius Hour round 2 I studied the weekdays in Japanese. I accomplished studying the weekdays for this week and next week I'll study how to say fruits in Japanese.
For Genius Hour I am researching Japan today and their language. What I did do today is find some resources to help me understand the way you speak Japanese. What I didn't do today is look at much because I started to goof around so I didn't get any pictures for my Genius Hour or this blog. For my next Genius Hour day I'm going to focus more on researching and less on goofing off and I'm going to start creating videos so I can start putting up videos on YouTube.
For my second round of Genius Hour I am translating Japanese. First, I need to learn and memorize Japanese, then I have to teach it to someone else so I can have help (most likely to be my best friend), lastly I have to video tape myself and put it on YouTube. I hope you like what I do.
