Today was a rather serious, but funny day of Genius Hour. I got a lot of my recording done and I got some help with some friends.
Round 3 for Genius Hour has come to an end, but I’m not done with my project. I have decided to continue my movie, “Unplanned Vacation”, for many reasons. One reason is that I have just started filming my movie, and another reason is that I have been working on it so hard. I’d love to continue it, knowing that if I quit now, I will regret it.
At the beginning of Round 3, I decided I would do some of my project at home instead of always doing it at school. This was to save more time so my movie could be much better instead of a rushed, messed up movie. My songs were not finished yet, so I finished them at home and then transferred one of them to a new project on iMovie. At school I filmed a few parts of Scene 1 and my trailer. Not so long ago, I decided that my trailer would have to be done after the movie since it wasn’t as important. Today, I recorded the part where I would introduce my movie. That is all that I have done, but I will continue to make my movie, pray that it turns out well, and enjoy every single part of it. I know I’ll go through some ups and downs from this round, but I will learn from everything I do for the last four weeks. Some people I asked were Mira, and Denise. They helped me the most throughout the whole thing. I also needed help from cast members that volunteered to help. Some people quit, but I like to thank the people who have stayed with me throughout the process. I don’t really have an end product, but I have finished a few things. For example, I have finished the very beginning of my movie. I have also finished both of my songs. Some successes I had were being able to transfer my songs to iMovie. I was really excited about this, because now I could transfer any song I wanted. I was one step closer to completing a masterpiece. I have faced many problems throughout this project. Sometimes I kept worrying about if I had enough storage to make my movie. I was also worried that none of the cast members have memorized any of their lines. There are many more problems I have faced, but I can’t even name them all. What I can learn from them is to keep calm and not worry about everything, because if I do, things could go wrong. If I could go back in time to fix things, I would focus more on my Genius Hour, I would be more serious, and I would be less worried. If I had done those things before, I would be more comfortable about doing this project. For my next round of Genius Hour, I will spend most of my time recording my movie. I will also make my learning visible while I do that. All I really can do this quarter is record and hope that things will work out the way I want. That’s all for today’s blog, and I hope you have enjoyed it. Until next time! Success criteria is something we do to show our projects to the world. People in my class make their projects visible to the world by making videos, taking pictures, and more. But due to some technical difficulties, I will rarely (if not, never) be able to post videos or take pictures for you. But writing is good enough, as I think it, too, is a way of showing people my success criteria.
Last Genius Hour, I recorded a few parts of the upcoming movie, but I took a break from that today. I decided to edit the song "You and Me", so it wouldn't sound offbeat. "You and Me" is a song that is played during Scene 6, and is a sad, alternative rock song. It is written by one of my best friends, and my job for the song is to record all the instruments on an app called GarageBand. I also revisited a trailer for my movie that I partially made a long time ago. I needed to edit my full name out of the trailer, since I didn't want my full name on the Internet. I also changed the name of the title to "Unplanned Vacation" because it was a shorter name, and it sounded cooler. I then started recording some things for the trailer, but sometimes things didn't go as I planned. My friend occasionally messed around with the recording and recorded at different times. My friend also decided we'd go outside for our work, and I think that helped me because I'd be able to record with more space. That's it from me! I hope you enjoyed this week's post, and I will see you all next time! My project for Round 1 of Genius Hour may not be complete yet, but I think I have done great at getting to where I am now. I’m doing this project because I’m willing to inspire others to be creative and to do things on different apps that I recommend. Today, I will share with you how I’ve gotten to this point in my project.
At first, I felt that there really wasn’t anything to do in my project, and I felt like switching to another project having to do with drumming. But then I had the idea of researching how to be a better director. After all, I’m not much of a leader, but I have tried to lead before. It’s very tough. Maybe this will help, I thought. It didn’t really help me, so I researched how to be a better actress. That didn’t help either. At this point, I hit a brick wall in my project and it made me feel like not doing it after all. But I couldn’t quit. Then, I remembered something. I needed more cast members. I also needed recorders to record us acting. So, I chose people like Denise, Miranda, and Abby to be cast members. I chose people like Saule to record for me. But what would the cast members say, I asked myself. So, I decided I’d make a script and share it with everyone in the cast. Then, in Round 2 of Genius Hour, I’d make copies of them so we all could do rehearsals. After the script was made and edited with the help of my friends (Miranda and Denise), I thought that I was ahead of everyone on my project. But I was wrong. I still had to make a website, an exclusive interview with myself, and two songs on an app called Garage Band. I still am working on that, especially on my storyline for my website. Then one day, Mira told me she couldn’t be shown online. That changed everything. I got really frustrated because that was how I planned everything. I would do everything in real life. But then she gave me the idea of doing it in Minecraft, which is my favorite game. I decided that I should do it, because all the cast members have to do is read fluently and play Minecraft. Plus, it would be a special way of doing things. But then, she told me that she couldn’t get Minecraft on different iPads. We came up with the solution of putting masks on Mira and Denise. This made things so much easier for us. If I could travel back in time, I think I’d think quicker at the beginning about actually preparing. I would also spend more time on Genius Hour at home. I would probably make my project a little smaller as well. But I think I did a good job on staying inside for recess just to work on Genius Hour. Also, like I’ve said, I will be doing rehearsals and making the movie in Round 2 of my project. I know this because if I said this would be done by the end of this round, it would be unfinished and I wouldn’t get a good grade on it. That concludes my blog on how I got from there, to now. Until next time! As you can tell, this is my first blog. So, I will tell you how I feel about getting into the habit of blogging. But first, this is a reminder that I will use this website to update how I'm doing on a great project called Genius Hour. Genius Hour is a great thing for students, so they can research and do the things that they want. So without further a due, let's get started.
First of all, I'm excited to have my very own page in which I can share my thoughts with you. For a long time, I've wanted people to recognize me. I also want to be an actress. This gets me one step closer to being noticed, because I can share videos, and I can express myself as a writer. Also, blogging will help me improve as a writer. I know that online, I want to make my blogs to look professional. In writing lessons, I am told a lot to use correct punctuation, capitalization, and correct spelling. This will push me to improve more on that. Also, I can look on other blogs and learn from them. Learning from other pages will help me a lot in blogging because I can use methods and writing skills in my blogs. That's all for my first blog, and in conclusion, I am very excited about blogging about my Genius Hour project. |
AuthorI'm Kyra, a 6th grade student at Goodrich Elementary School. This page will be about my Genius Hour project based on preparing for a movie. This gives me the chance to do what I love, which is to act. ArchivesCategories |
