Today genius hour went pretty well. My second catapult went 325.5 inches. The second one I build at first went 12 feet which is 144 inches. Then I had to fix in then I launched it and it hit the ceiling so, I went outside and it didn't go so far. Then I didn't pull the spoon back so far and it went 325.5 inches and the penny laded right into the dirt and the penny got all dirty. My first catapult on the other kept on breaking and breaking it went about 12 feet which is 144 inches.
Today Genius Hour was not the best because I ran out of glue today so, I couldn't complete my catapult today. Also my first catapult went like two inches. It also broke so I had to fix it then I fixed it and then it broke again. Then after that Genius Hour was over.
In Genius Hour today I made a super big catapult. I didn't get to test it yet because it took too long to make. I have a feeling that it will be the best one yet. I also didn't have any mistakes, only success. this was the most successful Genius Hour that I have ever done. In conclusion, Genius Hour today was amazingly awesome.
My genius hour project was to make some catapults. I choose it because I like to create stuff but to also have fun with it.
My steps for round two. Step one: I made five new catapults. Step two: test them. Step three: I upgraded them. Step four: tested them again. Step five: I launched them and recorded them. Step six: Showed my class my project. Some of the support I got was my mom and my teacher. They gave me support by encouraging me. My end product was a google slides and talking about it to my class. Some problems. Some difficulties I faced were some catapults not working. Also some of them broke when I launched them and I tried to fix them they didn't work. Some things that I learned from my mistakes is that all things can't work perfectly. Some stuff I would do differently is that I would try and work on them more not to just make a bunch. I might do this again, but I might change. Today was not a good or fun day because I forgot to get a hot glue gun. So, I couldn't do much. The most interesting thing about today was fixing one of my catapults because I dropped it on my way to my locker. I was able to fix it without the hot glue gun because it was made out of Popsicle sticks and rubber bands. I also got interviewed by my teacher and that is all that happened today. Next Genius hour I am going to get a hot glue gun and I'm going to fix one of my broken catapults.
Today I launched some of my catapults and recorded them. The one that went the farthest went 198.5 inches. Next Genius Hour I am going to fix and upgrade two of my catapults because they don't work and one of them are broken. Today was the most successful Genius Hour I have ever had. I also got everything I wanted done with a little of fun on the side of it.
Today was super fun. I edited my third catapult and then I made one new one. The new one is pretty good. Also today I told people about my progress and showed them my new and edited catapult. I also tested some of my catapults. In the progress one of testing them to make sure they were strong, my 5th catapult broke and I didn't get time to fix it because time ran out. But I will take it home over the weekend and see if I can fix it and make it stronger. Next Genius Hour I am going to test them all and after that I will launch them and record.
Today was a great success because I made two catapults and they both worked. Also today I showed some people my catapults and told them where I am going. Next Friday I am going to see how far each one will go and record it. I am really looking forward to next Friday because I will get the chance to record how far they go compared to the previous ones I have made.
What is genius hour? Genius hour is one hour every Friday. In genius hour we get to work on are passion. My genius hour passion was creating catapults which was a great success. I chose this project because I love to create stuff and and to entertain people with it. I also chose it because it is a fun thing to do.
First, I found some videos and websites on how to make a catapult. I chose what catapults would be the best to make, then I started to create some. Most of the catapults were fails but three of them worked. After I made them I launched them and measured how far they each went. Finally, I added up how far each one went and I graded them into 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I had great success with creating catapults. One of the catapults, catapult 2 went about 400 inches Some support I use was my mom buying me stuff to create catapults. In school I asked the teachers to give me some advice about what I could do with creating catapults. I shared with the world by putting a picture of the final standings on my blog. My end product of this project will be a slide show telling about my catapults successes. I will also put photographs in the slide show showing the finally standings and what the catapults look like. There was also some major problems with them, like some didn’t even work and they would just break when I would launch them. Some of them didn’t even launch when I tested them out. One other problems was taking a video of launching them. That didn’t work because you couldn’t see the thing I was launching, so I could not take a video. Things I would probably would do different is go faster because I only made three that worked and two that epicly failed. I could not have given up so fast on the two that didn’t work because they could have been the best, but I gave up on them too fast. For next genius hour I am going to stay with creating catapults because it is very fun to do and I love to do it. I am also going to stay with it because I would really like to try to change all my wrongs I did for my first hour project. I would also stick with it because people love it and really want to see it. I also want to stick with it because I still have a lot of stuff I can do. Hello, I am a 6th Grade student in Goodrich school and I can't wait to start blogging. I feel very happy to talk about my Genius Hour and to show some videos of it. I am kind of nervous about making this blog so the whole world can see. A little about me, I love cheeseburgers, I love to create, I love to play baseball, and I love the summer.
