I am continuing my writing project this round. Today I made a History video for my books. I talk about the history of my series in the video.I had a lot of fun making the video I spent the rest of today writing my second book. I am almost done with my second book, but not quite. I'm really enjoying writing my book series and will soon start my tips series.
My Genius Hour project was writing a series and sharing it with the world on a website. I chose this project because I love writing. Then I created a YouTube account and posted a trailer for my series, along with an interview with me, introducing the series and myself. When I started this round my website was very basic and so was my YouTube channel. I made my trailer, which I created in iMovie. After that, I worked on my website, adding several pages. I also wrote a lot this quarter, working on my second book. Towards the end of the quarter I created my interview and posted it on YouTube. For the trailer I needed help, so I had my friend Abby interview me, and make me a mask to wear, because I am not allowed to show my face online. I also had my friend Kyra, who is great with a camera, film it. I was mostly successful in my project, but I struggled with uploading my interview to YouTube for a while. If I had done it again, I would have liked some more time to write, but otherwise I enjoyed my project. I will continue working on it next quarter, but I am going to also use my YouTube channel to give tips to young writers like me.
Until the next post, Miranda You can read my books here: https://sites.google.com/a/stu.woodridge68.org/arda/ You can check out my videos here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmY583UipvVDaHOmYVclPTA/feed Today in Genius Hour I worked on my writing. It was a great day, so I went outside and worked. I started a new chapter and updated my site. Today I also planned somethings I might want to do to take my project to the next level. I'm thinking about selling my books for charity or something like that. I also helped my friend Kyra film some videos. I had a lot of fun this genius hour, but next time I think I want to write more. I am still working on my second book. I'm still having a really great time writing. I've also started thinking about other books I might want to write, and am considering working on fan fiction too. Because I am already combining art and writing, two of my talents, I added another one: Quiz making. I made a Quotev account and will post links to my quizzes on my website Writing Dreams: https://sites.google.com/a/stu.woodridge68.org/guardians/. I really look forward to taking my project to the next level and using it to help people.
Today I recorded a sketch with my friends. We went outside and recorded a skit. Then we posted it one Youtube! It was a lot of fun! I also posted a quiz on Quotev and put a link on my websote! Here's the skit: Today for Genius Hour Abby and I made masks for the movie project. We worked really hard adding glitter and glitter glue. I really enjoyed designing and making masks. I also updated my writing site and worked on a writing blog Writing Dreams at: https://sites.google.com/a/stu.woodridge68.org/guardians/. I made a Doctor Who fan quiz for my site. i think this Genius Hour went well and I look forward to next Genius Hour.
Today for Genius Hour I worked on two projects: my own, and my friend Kyra's. For my own I worked on uploading to my website and writing. Below are some screenshot images. I also worked on costume design design for my friend Kyra's movie. I think I did well in today's Genius Hour!
- Until the Next Post, Miranda In my grade we've been working on a program called Genius Hour. It's all about your passion. You get an hour a day (and free time to work during school, or you can work at home) to work on your passion. My passion is writing. I've always loved writing, and I had been working on a book series when we started. The Phoenix Files. I'd been working on the story for six months. I'd been fine-tuning the story, and I'd finally gotten it how I wanted it. I still have all the rejected half-finished books, or in some cases series, on my Google Drive, taking up space. I can't delete them, I've decided. I've come so far, I need a reminder. The story is about Phoenix, an alien. Her planet is destroyed by the evil Rewconn, and she (along with Diamond and Emerald, from the neighboring planet that was also destroyed) escapes to Earth. There, they meet Vassilki, Evelyn, and Edward. They run ARDA, an organization devoted to studying and protecting the Earth from alien life. For a few weeks they live in peace, but soon the Rewconn find them. And the Rewconn are determined to take over the universe. But they aren't alone. A friend from Phoenix's past has turned against her. And the whole universe is at stake. But the story wasn't the only thing I had to work on. I decided that to get my work out into the world I was going to have a website. At our school we all have Google accounts, so I turned to Google Sites. I spent almost half of a day over the weekend figuring out how to use it. I had to delete at least one website, but it was worth it. Later on, I struggled with uploading files, and pictures, and videos. In the end, though, I figured it out. My website is now fully functional and I'm getting good at using Google Sites. The last challenge I faced was getting my trailer on to the website. It took a lot of tweaking, but it's now on. I also managed to post it on Youtube. My channel is called Phoenix Files. I will be grateful if you could subscribe to me, or at least check it out. You can watch the trailer here: My website will be up soon, and then you can check it out at: https://sites.google.com/a/stu.woodridge68.org/arda/home
I hope I'll see you there soon. Until the next Post, Miranda Hi, I'm Miranda. I've never really had a blog before, or at least I've never had a public one. I'm fairly excited to be writing this blog. I love writing. My Genius Hour project is all focusing mainly on my writing. It's very important to me because I want to become a famous author. This is my first step in that direction: sharing my writing with the world. I've won writing competitions in my school, and I love writing. Myidea for this project all started last year during the writing competiotion.....
It started, in fact, with a fan fiction. A Doctor Who fan fiction. Then the writing competition started up. I had the idea to adapt my fan fic, and make it into it's own story. And thus, Phoenix was born. even after the competition I played with the idea. I wrote a bunch of books, but none of them were just right. Until now. So, I'm extremly excited to be sharing my series, The Phoenix Files, with the world for Genius Hour. I came up with the idea of making a website for the secret organization in the book, ARDA, and posting my work there. I also drew the characters in my book and am posting the drawigs on the website too. I feel that this is my first step into the world, really, and being known. I'm really excited to write this blog, and to share my books, and to have you all reading them. The website isn't ready yet, but it will be soon, and then I'll share it with you guys. Until the Next Post, Miranda |
