Round 1 in Genius hour went pretty fast and was mostly easy. I had a easy time finding the answers to my question and planning out my slide show. I think that this was a good opportunity to learn more about wolves and werewolves, but I think this being my first online post was what made me the most nervous, even if every one else was doing it to. The hardest part was finding why the first werewolf legend was told, I ended up not being able to answer this part of my question. At the end of round 1 I would say that i'm satisfied with how everything turned out.
Hide and Seek
It was surprisingly chilly for a sunny day, even if it was Easter is what I was thinking as I stood in front of my grandparents door.Me, my sister, and my cousin Nicholas had already opened our gifts and finished our Easter egg hunt. our grandparents said that we would be having dinner in about 40 minutes. Chey said that we should play hide and seek while we were waiting for dinner. Nicholas said that the house was too big and that we should only play upstairs. We all did rock paper scissors for who was it, Nicholas and I both did rock while Chey did scissors, she loss. We said she had to count to fifty. Me and Nicholas have a special way to play hide and seek. First we tell each other where we are going to hide, then after a few minutes one of us would try to be like a ninja and go to the others hiding place. Next we would both move to a new hiding place and stay there until we were found, sometimes we are in different places in the same room. The two of us went upstairs while Chey was counting. Going up my grandparents stairs always creeped me out because it was such a long stair case and it was almost always dark at the top. I knew it would be hard for Nicholas to hide so I said “Nicholas you should try and cover up your shirt.” “Thanks for the tip.” he responded He was wearing a bright orange shirt. I went into my grandparents bedroom and hid in the corner, with a whole bunch of boxes that I placed their surrounding me. I could still see the mirror which faced the hallway, I saw the reflection of Nicholas going into our grandpa’s computer room. If someone were to walk into the room they would see a pile of boxes that looked like my grandma placed them in the corner, but they were really covering me. I no longer heard Chey counting, if was as if the world stopped when I heard footsteps coming upstairs far down the staircase. They stopped close enough to where I would bet she was halfway up the stairs. She started the slow pace she had before, getting closer to me and Nicholas step by step. When she reached the top and yelled “READY OR NOT HERE I COME!” my heart skipped a beat and my breath caught as I saw her white dress flash by the door. I was sitting there without moving, not even blinking in fear that I would be caught. First she ran into grandpa’s work room, I heard her rummaging about and then saw her run out and down the hallway into the kids room. Nicholas started cracking up and walked out of the room too me. Suddenly we heard “FOUND YOU,” Chey said in a mocking voice. She checked the extra room for me and then walked into our grandparents bed room. I started breathing slowly and as quietly as I could. She dropped down and checked under the bed first, then behind the mirror. She even lifted one of the boxes and exposed my shirt, good thing it was black so she didn’t notice it. Next thing she did was go back into grandpa’s working room. I moved the boxes quietly away from me. Chey was just about to walk in when grandma yelled “Dinners ready!” I ran down stairs and heard Chey mumble almost had you and grandpa yelled ” NO RUNNING!” I walked down the last two steps, with Nicholas waiting for me. He asked “ Did you win?” and I said “Yes”, thinking about what we would do after dinner. How and why did the first werewolf legend start, and how has it been retained and changed over time?
In the state of Pennsylvania it states "Any motorist who sights a team of horses coming toward him must pull well off the road, cover his car with a blanket or canvas that blends with the countryside, and let the horses pass. If the horses appear skittish, the motorist must take his car apart, piece by piece, and hide it under the nearest bushes."
If this law was still around today in the United States a lot of people would have to take their car apart around a ranch, but every where else it would safe to drive without worrying about a team of horses. I love wolfs, their my passion. My love of wolfs started about when I was 5, it started when I first watched the discovery channel. One of the reasons that I love wolfs is because their so much like us in so many ways, for example they live in family's/packs and care for each other. An other reason is that not only do they care for each other but they protect each other, an other example would be that a male wolf would protect a pup even if they weren't related and they were in the same pack if a intruder came to close to their den, also the hunters bring back food and spit it up ( gross ) for all the pack members even tho not all of them are related. The alpha male is the only one that can have pups in the pack unless they give permission to have pups to the other males, even if the alpha doesn't give permission they take care of his pups for him, in some packs their are levels or grades for the wolfs and they can only breed with the same grade or one grade under them. If you love dogs you should like wolfs, the reason being the first dogs were domesticated wolfs. Those are just some of the reasons that I love wolfs.
