For Genius Hour I am making a website. My website is for swimmers who want to improve their backstroke technique. My passion is swimming and I'm researching more about it.
I like how we get to learn about what we want and not assigned to something. At the beginning of our project I liked the research part. But I didn’t like how we were required to do a video because I feel like I had a lot of mistakes in my video and I rather do something that you don’t have to do a voice-over. I also feel like we didn’t have enough time so we could of done it a few weeks earlier or after winter break. But over all, I liked this project.
What I did is research about how to improve my breast-stroke and I found that some of my technique is not the correct technique to become a better swimmer. Somethings that I found were that when I swim, I pull with my palms facing the bottom of the pool. Correct technique would be with your palms facing the sides of the pool. Also, I thought that your neck and shoulders were suppose to be tense so you wouldn't have your stroke fall apart. But to do better technique you would relax and be not tense. I corrected a lot of my technique and I have been seeing improvements.
In the state of Alabama there is a law that states 'It is illegal to wear a fake mustache that causes laughter in church'. I don't understand why this is a law. Church is suppose to be a happy place and I think that a man wearing a fake mustache bringing laughter is harmless.
If this was still a law today, I don't think there would be much of a change. Just that you wont see anyone in Alabama wearing a fake mustache in church. Why are there only four official strokes in swimming?
I started swimming when I was little, 7 years old. I did a summer swim team. When I first started I was scared I wasn't going to be fast enough. My brother, Ben, was 11 at that time and he was on the team too. I liked experiencing swimming, and I wasn't one of those people who talked with their friends and messed around. I loved swimming. When I was 8, I went on a all year round swim team with my brother. They were more serious about being an athlete. 3 years later, I was still here.
