When my class and I started doing our projects for Genius Hour, I was very interested. I was interested because I didn’t know what we were going to do for it. When I found out that our project’s were going to be on our passion, I WAS SOOO READY!!!! The first thing that came to my mind for my passion was horseback riding. I knew that that would be the best passion for my project. I am very proud of my presentation and my research. I found out a lot of things about horseback riding that I didn’t know before this project. I love Genius Hour!
In this video I am jumping my pony, Amina to get ready for a horse show. Some of the jumps that we jump in this video are short, meaning that we add an extra step in our line. A line is one jump, and then a few strides, and then another jump at the end. One of our jumps is a long jump, meaning that we take away a step in the line, and jump it farther. You always have to be counting when you are jumping so that you know what the distance of strides there are going to be when you are approaching you're jump. You also have to have a consistent canter. Meaning that you either have to speed up, or slow down. There is A LOT of thinking that you have to manage when you ride. I created this video because you have to be able to trust and sense that you're horse is going to jump. In this video, I trusted and I sensed that my pony would jump over the jumps (and it's also my job to ride correctly to make her jump). We had a lot of fun at the show! Plus, my pony LOVES to jump!!
In the state of Arizona, there is a law that states, "it is illegal for women to wear pants."
If the law were still enforced today, it wouldn't be fair to women because what are they going to wear when winter comes around? A skirt? Shorts? No, because it would be way to cold for that kind of dressing. If ponies and horses could talk, would they tell their riders if they want to jump over a jump, or no?
I got interested in horseback riding when I went to a Jewish overnight camp, and my dad asked me if I wanted him to sign me up for horseback riding. I said yes. So when I went off to camp, I fell in love with horses and ponies. It was so much fun! I asked my parents if I could take lessons, and they said yes. So I started taking them. Now, I have a pony named Minnie, but her show name is Amina. I've been riding for 4 years. Since I've been showing on Amina, I'm the number 8th best rider in Illinois. Thank you Judgement Farm!!!
